September 2013 – December 2014
Georgian Pop Up Museum
This was a voluntary project funded by the ‘Made In Limerick’ initiative for the City of Culture 2014. It was a collaboration and was conceived, designed and run with a conservation architect Cait ni Cheallachain and Dr. Ursula Callaghan (Historian).
The project highlighted Limerick Georgian architecture and history in a very different way. Open during the months of June, July and August at weekends it brought to life Limerick’s eighteenth-century local Georgian history. There was only one artefact and that was the building itself. Built in 1770, it was one of the earliest Georgian houses in limerick. The project was a history and heritage project with an emphasis on military life, the provisioning business that sustained Limerick through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and of course the building of Georgian Limerick.
The photographs below are of some of the the volunteers who worked on the project. We are indebted to them all for their devotion and reliability and support.
